The House of Justice Opens Its Doors to Your Stories

Every injustice has its story. Tell yours.

The House of Justice began with one family and one house. We are now opening our doors to everyone who has experienced injustice themselves and wants to speak about it.

When we began telling the story of Wolfova 1, we knew we were talking about more than one house. The story of the Mayer family is the story of property that was taken twice: first after the war, and again in independent Slovenia. It is also a story about something many people know well: trust that was abused, documents that disappeared, and proceedings that drag on for so long that people give up before their turn ever comes.

We are convinced there are many more stories like this one. That is why we are opening a new chapter.

What has happened to one family has happened to others

In our posts so far, we have documented one case step by step. Anyone who has ever sought justice themselves will recognise part of their own story in it.

Trust. Can you imagine your apartment or business premises being taken from you by the very person who was supposed to represent you? We wrote about this in the article When Does Justice Get Its Turn: A Story That Must Not Expire.

The silence of the system. What happens when, along with the property, the evidence disappears too? The stories of the missing documents and a closed system and of the Bled lace factory, whose denationalization file went missing, show how quickly a person is left standing in front of closed doors.

Time. An injustice that waits long enough becomes “an old matter”. In the interview Same House, Two Injustices, One Answer: “I Will Never Give Up.” Federico Pignatelli explains why he perseveres.

Courage. Princess Doris Mayer spoke about what her family had lived through only after many decades. We presented her testimony in the article The Slovenian Woman Who Lost Her Homeland Twice. Her words show how much it means when a person tells their story out loud.

Why it matters to speak up

An injustice that is kept silent remains a private problem. An injustice that is spoken about becomes a public question.

One story is a case. Ten similar stories are a pattern, and a pattern demands an answer from the judiciary. This is the path we set out on from the very beginning: from individual injustice to systemic change.

Federico Pignatelli put it simply: “It is up to all of us to act and fix this failing system.” He is speaking about a judiciary that has remained the same through every change of government and has its roots in the former regime. The current Government is confronting this legacy too, and we trust it will help bring long-needed justice.

A place for your story

In the coming weeks, on this website and on the House of Justice channels, we will begin publishing the stories of people who have experienced injustice themselves: in court, at a public office, with a lawyer, in proceedings that have dragged on for years. We will read every story and review it before publication, including from a legal standpoint. We cannot publish them all, but we will concentrate on those that are evident abuses, are supported by documents and point to a pattern in how the judiciary works. Anonymous communications will be read attentively but cannot be published.

If you feel that your story has not been heard, entrust it to us. Describe what happened to you and attach the documents that support it. On this website, one simple rule applies: the facts speak for themselves.

How to take part

  1. Write to us. Send us your story at info@hisapravice.si. You can also join the House of Justice community or send us a private message on Instagram, Facebook or TikTok.
  2. Briefly describe what happened. When and where it happened, who was involved, and which documents you have.
  3. We will get back to you. If your story is suitable for publication, we will agree together on how it will be presented: as a written piece, a conversation or a video. We publish only what you approve. We publish stories under the author’s full name, because that is what makes them credible.

Wolfova 1 is the house of one family. May the House of Justice become the house of everyone who is still waiting for justice.

Do not stay silenced. Fight for your justice.
